Master Plant Dietas

We host group retreats where participants practice a traditional dieta while learning about the jungle and having the option to learn traditional Peruvian healing music and visionary painting. A dieta is designed to provide safe space and assistance to connect deeply with oneself while working with Master Plants and joining ceremonies. We work with participants before, during, and after the retreat to best meet their needs. Please see our General Program in the Resources section for more details.

We recommend a 10-day dieta to get the full benefit, and this is how we typically structure our programs. This experience provides the opportunity for three days of deep cleansing, seven days with a Master Plant, and five ceremonies. Keep in mind that we ask participants to have at least one full day on either side of the retreat in Pucallpa to prepare and rest, so with travel you will need to dedicate a minimum of two weeks to this experience. We have a very strong preference that participants arrive and leave on the scheduled dates, both for logistics reasons and to support group cohesion.

Also note that this is a very serious commitment and is not for everyone. While ceremonial work can be a celebration of sorts, a dieta is not intended to be a recreational plant medicine experience, some conditions do not mix with the plants, and it will require at least several weeks of preparation both before and after the retreat. Our retreats will be open to all participants who pass our screening process and will often include people from many places and walks of life. However, if you would like to host a group that is exclusive to fellow members of your sub-community, we can accommodate if we know in advance.
We understand that for some people it can be challenging to be able to take two weeks away, and alternatively for others a longer dieta may be desirable. In these cases we can offer a 7-day program, two-week program, etc. with advanced notice.
We are often asked if we offer very small group or private retreats. While this is possible and is handled on a case-by-case basis, it requires a high level of customization and will take more planning than our group retreats. For example, pricing will not be the same for groups smaller than our typical minimum, and we must make arrangements to follow additional recommended protocol, especially regarding having one male and one female experienced facilitator for any private ceremonial experience. We believe that all of life is a ceremony and that there are many soulful ways to experience the beauty of life beyond working with plant medicines. We would like to extend our other talents to those interested in some of these alternative paths.

Art & Music Intensives

Moisés has been a professional Visionary Painter for more than 25 years and has gained worldwide recognition for his work and ability to teach. He is also a very talented musician and teacher, and along with Amy and many other gifted musicians they have met along the way they share enormous joy through teaching and learning with others.

Please keep in mind that you do not need to be an artist or musician to benefit from these experiences. The act of creating is powerful and healing in itself, and often we find that those who simply try discover their hidden abilities and a great love for themselves and what they create.

Jungle Excursions

If you read the biography of Moisés, you will learn that he grew up in a remote jungle village further north than our center in the Peruvian Amazon and that he later owned a jungle tourism company. Between him, his family, and our staff, we have a wealth of knowledge about the landscape and its plants and creatures that we would love to share. Helping others experience the incredible wildlife found at Madre Selva is one of our greatest passions.

We aim for the Madre Selva Healing and Arts Center to help preserve what little primary jungle is left in areas surrounding Pucallpa and we hope to grow the amount of hectares that we can dedicate to this purpose. An incredible amount of deforestation has taken place in the Ucayali region over the last few decades and primary forests are increasingly hard to find there. We are open and excited to host others who are interested in sustainable conversation of the Amazon.
